The excitement of the first NFL game of the season for the Philadelphia Eagles wasn’t quite the same. The expectations were high but not with the same fervor as years past. The fans are not permitted in the stadiums to cheer for their team! There are fans that feel alienated from watching the NFL because of the racial divide in our country. On top of all of the distractions for opening day in the NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles, the team limped into the first game against the Washington Football team. The team formerly known as the Washington Redskins who were forced to change their name accused of racial insensitivity, a name established in 1933, came into the game as 6 point underdogs. Despite missing ⅖ of their starting offensive lineman, the Eagles started off the game firing on all cylinders. Carson Wentz looked great completing 14 of 18 passes and two touchdowns, both to tight ends Zack Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Field Goal kicker Jake Elliott hit a 38 yard FG and the Eagles were up 17-0. Then like sand out of the hour glass, the Eagles lost their MoJo, it was gone!! The wheels fell off. Wentz looked like a completely different QB, going 10 for his last 24 passes. The QB holding the ball too long, throwing two INT’s, bad play calling by the head coach, the offensive line's inability to pass protect. It was horrible to watch!! To add insult to injury, three more players were injured and the Eagles blew a 17 point lead and lost the game 27-17.
The Phillies wrap up a seven game series in Miami against the Marlins today after dropping both games of their double header Sunday by a combined score of 10-2. To add insult to injury the Phillies lost their top pitching prospect with a shoulder injury while losing to a former pitching prospect they traded away in the JT Realmuto deal. Sixto Sanchez threw a complete game, 3 hitter against his former team!! What A Bad fricking Day!!!!!
