The philadelphia Flyers started this season with more questions than answers. How would their young defenseman handle more responsibility? How would the newly acquired defenseman gell with the younger guys? Where would the scoring come from? Do the Flyers have enough to make the playoffs? Well with the season at the halfway point some questions have been answered. After 47 games the Flyers are 25-16-6 for and tied with Hurricanes for the 3rd spot in the Metropolitan division. One area where the Flyers have improved is playing at home where they boast a record of 15-3-4 and giving up a stingy 2.04 goals against at home(2nd best in NHL). As usual the Flyers are a streaky team, they win two then lose two, they win four and they lose for but this year they have escaped elongated losing streaks. Another thing they have done is beaten some of the top teams in the NHL this year including last nights win against the Stanley Cup Champions St. Louis Blues 4-3 in overtime. In Fact the Flyers have won three of their last four games and have picked up picked up six of a possible eight points against four of the top six teams in the league. Pretty impressive for and young team with a lot of questions. The Flyers have proven to themselves that they can play with anybody and win! The Flyers are playing with confidence and Head coach Alain Vigneault has this team playing with grit. Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny are the leading scorers on the team and they have infused the team with energy. Tonight the Flyers are home to face the Montreal Canadians who are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games.
