Flyers try to make it 10 in a row!

Saturday on my show "The Locker Room with Billy Schweim" on 97.3 ESPN radio South Jersey we interviewed the General Manager of the Flyers Chuck Fletcher. It was a very candid interview with him as he revealed that he thought that the Flyers would be a playoff team but didn't anticipate they would gel this quick. The fact that the Flyers are 21 games above 500 and on a current nine game winning streak speaks volumes about "the impressive response by our players and coaches" to the challenge and where they are in the standings right now. Hiring three veteran coaches, Alain Vigneault, Michael Therrien and Mike Yeo added " instant credibility" and the players are buying into what they are trying to do with respect to the system they run. GM Chuck Fletcher has done a nice job bringing in some new players that have performed well. Free agent singing Kevin Hayes and trading for Matt Niskanen are solid additions and adding role players like Tyler Pitlick and Derek Grant and Nate Thompson have all contributed so far, but the play of the Flyers young defense has been the biggest improvement !!! Travis Sanheim, Robert Haag and Philippe Myers size and speed on the blueline coupled with their toughness has really given this team confidence both offensively and defensively. AS you know the one position that can't be overlooked is the goaltender. The Flyers have found their goalie of the future , but the future is now!! Carter Hart is been playing outstanding in net!! He is the reason the Flyers are where they are. His home record is off the charts 20-2-2 with a GPA 1.61. The guys stands on his head ( hockey term) at home. The Flyers look to make it ten in a row on Tuesday night when they host the Boston Bruins, one of the best teams in the NHL. If the Flyers beat the Bruins tomorrow night the will sweep the season series as well. Lets Go Flyers. Check out my podcast of google podcasts and spotify.
