As we enter the 3th week of the Coronavirus epidemic and the sports world is on hiatus, the NFL and the Eagles are the only organizations making noise. The Eagles acquired DT Javon Hargrave from Pittsburg and said good bye to a team leader and strong safety, Malcolm Jenkins. The Eagles then agreed to terms on a trade with the Detroit Lions to acquire CB Darius Slay in exchange for a 2020 third-round (No. 85 overall) draft pick and a 2020 fifth-round (No. 166 overall) draft pick. The Eagles also picked up free agents and agreed to terms with LB Jatavis Brown on a one-year contract and S Will Parks on a one-year contract. I wish the Eagles could have found a way to keep Jenkins at the same time adding Darius Slay. Jenkins said in a statement that he didn't want to leave, neither did I!!! Picking up Hargrave was a nice addition to the D line and with Slay, Brown and Parks, they definitely got younger and faster but did they get better? If it wasn't for NFL and free agency what would we have to talk about during the Coronavirus shutdown??? It's amazing how much sports means to our everyday livelihoods. Sports plays such a big role that when it's gone you realize the magnitude of each sport!! I hope we can return to normal as soon as possible, if that's possible?? In the meantime we will try to entertain you on The Locker Room with Billy Schweim every Saturday & Sunday from 10am to noon on 97.3 ESPN South Jersey. My guest list over the past weeks have included Mike Eruzione, captain of the 1980 Gold medal USA hockey team. Flyers GM, Chuck Fletcher and and Rudy Ruettiger who inspired the movie "Rudy". I hope to continue to provide great sports subjects and guests to inform and entertain you!!
