The roller coaster ride with our winter sports teams!

Updated: Feb 12

Now that the NFL season is finally over its time to turn our undivided attention to our winter teams. Like the Phillies and Eagles before them, expectations were very high for the Philadelphia 76ers to make a nice run at the finals in the NBA. Like the Phillies and Eagles, whose expectations were never fulfilled for one reason or the other, the Sixers don't seem to be heading in the right direction to fulfill prospect of winning a championship. The Sixers have underachieved so far this season with rumors of a team in turmoil and being accused of being soft. The frustration of the fans is getting to a fever pitch because of seeing the inconsistency of a team with so much talent going to waste. They have the best home record in the NBA but take this team on the road, they fold like a cheap tent. The coach is under fire, some players don't appear to fit with other players. Whatever the reason is the bottom line is if they don't straighten it out, and soon, they will have the same fate as the Phillies and Eagles. A team of potential and high expectations who couldn't deliver us to the promised land !!!

The Flyers on the other hand have had the luxury of not having high expectations placed on them by the media in Philadelphia. This team is an underdog team, a team that is not expected to make the playoffs. The Flyers have played well and are in contention to make a run at the playoffs. Its fun to watch a team that plays hard and wants to prove its critics wrong. Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault has this team believing in themselves. He is getting contributions from his younger players that is very promising. The Flyers have beaten some of the best teams in the league. Once this Flyers team becomes a bit more consistent who knows what lay ahead for them!!

While watching our winter teams makes you feel like you are on a roller coaster, know that you are, and aren't Roller coasters fun?
