The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2019 season in the same fashion as the Phillies did, high expectations, a lot of talent and experience. Everybody picked the Phillies to win the division and challenge for the World series. Hell even the NFL schedule makers sent the Eagles packing for three weeks in October to avoid a possible traffic nightmare at the stadium complex's If the Phillies made an October run. Like the Phillies, the Eagles and their fans are finding out that talk is cheap and anything in the world of sports can happen to a team with high expectations. The Eagles, plagued with injuries and inconsistent play fell to the Vikings on Sunday 38-20. The loss dropped the Eagles record to 3-3 heading into a showdown in Dallas this Sunday night. Vikings QB Kirk Cousins torched the Eagles secondary with a couple of long passes to Stefon Diggs for TD's of 51 and 62 yards and finished with a third TD of 11 yards. Cousins silenced his critics by going 22 of 29 for 333 yards and a passer rating of 138.4. Eagles Defensive backs Rasul Douglas and Sidney Jones were exposed and the defense in general did not get enough pressure on the Vikings QB. Offensively the Eagles were OK, Wentz threw 2 TD's and a pick. The ratio run to pass was lopsided 22 rushing attempts to 41 passing Attempts but more importantly they didn't seem to have continuity. The lack of that deep threat that DeSean Jackson provides is sorely missed!
The Eagles head to Dallas this Sunday night to face a Cowboys team with problems of their own, losing to the Jets last Sunday to drop their record to 3-3. The Eagles are lucky they have a chance to lead the NFC East with a win Sunday night in Dallas. Something has to give in the " MEDIOCRE BOWL!!!!
