Even thought the Eagles had a bye week it was a great weekend for philly sports teams! The Philadelphia Flyers had an exceptional weekend playing back to back games against two top teams from the Atlantic division. Beating the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night in a shootout win and traveling to Boston and getting a great effort with the same outcome. Back to back 3-2 wins in consecutive shootouts improved the Flyers record to 10-5-2 and propelled them into third place in the Metropolitan division. The win gives the Flyers their best start since 2011-12. Philippe Myers continued to play well and became the seventh Flyers defenseman in franchise history to score goals in three consecutive games, and the first since Mark Howe did it in March of 1987.
The Sixers returned home after a four game road trip and losers of three in a row got back on track with a win against Charlotte Hornets 114 -106. Ben Simmons sat out with a grade 1AC joint sprain of his right shoulder and is being evaluated to see if there is more damage in the joint. The Sixers are 6-3 and in 5th place in the Eastern Conference in the early going.
If that wasn't enough the Dallas Cowboys lost on Sunday night football to the Minnesota Vikings 28-24!! How bout Them Cowboys?? Not only did the Flyers and Sixers win on the Eagles bye week, the Cowboys laid a egg and fell into a tie for first place in the NFC East with your Philadelphia Eagles, both teams are 5-4. WHAT A BYE WEEK!!!
