The Philadelphia Phillies open up their last series before the MLB All Star break in San Diego against the Padres.  The Phillies find themselves a game and a half in front of the New York Mets in the National League East ahead of the Mid-Summer Classic.

The Phillies are in first place in the East but as of friday morning are only sending two players to the All Star game: Ace Zack Wheeler and Designated Hitter Kyle Schwarber.  While six NL Teams have three or more All-Stars, Phillies players got snubbed like Shortstop Trea Turner and pitchers Ranger Suarez and Cristopher Sanchez were left off the roster. Ranger Suarez, Zack Wheeler, and Cristopher Sanchez are the Phillies pitchers scheduled to start the last three games before the break. I would like to see the three Phillies players left off the All star roster use it as motivation the rest of the season.

The Beach Patrol races are kicking off Friday night July 11th; The Mike McGrath Memorial race in Longport is scheduled to start at 630 pm, and the Beschen-Callahan Memorial races in North Wildwood start at 6 pm. I encourage everyone to attend either race to see great competition and support the men and women of all the Beach Patrols at the Jersey Shore.

The Locker Room will be there covering the races and will give you the results and interviews from each race Saturday morning on The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.

On Saturday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw and Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda join me in the studio as we recap the week in Philly Sports.  We will react to the Phillies' Friday night action in San Diego.  Mr. Negadelphia will give his spin on the Philly sports scene brought to you by the Vassar Pool Service.

This Saturday's Beach Patrol report will have the results from Friday nights races from both the Mike McGrath and Beschen-Callahan Memorial Lifeguard races. I will play interviews from Longport, and we will hear from Lieutenant of the Avalon Beach Patrol Erich Wolf with the results from North Wildwood.

On Sunday’s show, one half of my youth movement will be in studio: Producer Danny Ryan joins me and we will have plenty to talk about. The Phillies vs Padres Saturday night results plus we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s market of Ocean City.  Tommy comments on the Phillies week and previews Sunday’s game.  Sixers continue their summer league play but without V.J Edgecombe.

We will discuss that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN Radio South Jersey.
