Our Philadelphia Phillies are Red Hot. They just swept the Seattle Mariners and are seven games ahead of the New York Mets in the National League East standings.

The Phillies' offense exploded for 29 runs in their three game series against the Mariners.  Trea Turner led the way; In his last 10 games, Turner is hitting .522 and scored 12 runs. Kyle Schwarber leads the National League in Homers with 45, which is the most Home runs hit by a Philly through 127 games in their history (Ryan Howard had 44 in 2006).

Not only have their bats come alive, but the starting pitching is making history. In the series against Seattle, the three Phillies Starters, Sanchez and Suarez and Luzardo, struck out 34 batters. That's a Phillies team record.

The Phillies welcome the Washington Nationals to the Bank this weekend. Taijuan Walker takes the mound for the Phillies on Friday Night. Walker in his last seven starts has a 2.89 ERA and four straight starts allowing 2 Earned Runs or less while going at least five innings in each start.

The Eagles play their last preseason game against the New York Jets Friday night at MetLife Stadium - Eagles Network Pregame coverage at 630 pm and Kickoff at 730 pm on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey!

As the preseason winds down and Training Camp ends, the Eagles have suffered several injuries. The most serious was wide receiver Johnny Wilson, who was lost for the season with knee and ankle injuries. The 6'6" Wide Receiver has been playing well in Practice and Training Camp, now had landed on injured reserve.  The good news is the Eagles acquired former Alabama Wide Receiver John Metchie a few days ago, so they still have good depth on the roster.

We will cover it everything Eagles and Phillies this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.

On Saturday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw and former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dave Klemic join me in the studio.  We will recap the Birds' final preseason game against the Jets.  Then we will hear from long-time NFL strength and Condition coach Jeff Hurd.  Kelmic's former Coach has several stories from his time coaching in the NFL.  The Phillies take on the Nationals this weekend and we will react to Friday night's game.

On Sunday’s show, Producer Alex Barardis and Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda join me in the studio.  Every Sunday during the baseball season, we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s Market in Ocean City.  Tommy analyzes the Phillies and previews Sunday’s game. We will evaluate the Eagles play against the Jets and predict who will be the starters for the 2025 season.

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN radio.
