Have the Philadelphia Phillies offense regained their Groove? Since the MLB all-star break, the Phillies are 9-16 and several players have been struggling at the plate. But in their last two games, the Phillies bats have come alive and scored 22 runs against the Marlins and the Nationals respectively.
J.T. Realmuto has five hits in 17 at-bats with four extra-base hits in his last five games. Trea Turner after getting the previous night off returned to the line-up and collected three hits and two RBI. Albeit it’s against the Marlins and Nationals, at least they are showing the first signs of life since the Phillies scored 15 runs in two games in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
Can the Phillies keep the offense rolling? We will see as the Phillies host the Nationals for three more games this weekend. Aaron Nola gets the start for the Phillies on Friday Night and has an 11-6 record with a 3.60 ERA.
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in Foxboro Thursday night in their second preseason game. The Eagles offense hasn’t played their starters so it shouldn't be a surprise they have not looked efficient. But in the NFL Preseason, many teams run a generic offense.
With the Eagles First Team still remaining in bubble wrap, some fans are focusing on the potential backup Quarterback battle between Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee. Meanwhile, we are all intrigued to see what Vic Fangio is doing with the defense. There are several storylines that we will explore this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.
Finally, this Saturday will be the final edition of the 2024 Beach Patrol report. I will be covering the Goudy’s Lifeguard races in Ventnor on Friday Night. It is the last beach patrol competition of the summer.
On Saturday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw and former Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Dave Klemic join me in the studio. We will talk about the Phillies and the Eagles throughout hour one of the show.
In Hour Two, we will hear from Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda with his weekly segment. Then it’s our last Beach Patrol report of the season. I’ll have interviews with some of the winners at the Goudy’s and we will talk with the Chief of the Avalon Beach Patrol Matt Wolf after Avalon won the 2024 South Jersey Lifeguard Championship this past Monday.
On Sunday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw is back in the studio for the second straight day. Every Sunday throughout the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s market of Ocean City. Tommy gives us his thoughts on the Phillies return home from their road trip and previews Sunday’s game. Then in Hour Two we will talk about the Eagles roster for the 2024 NFL season.
All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, heard every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN Radio South Jersey.
