Friday nights at the Jersey Shore during the summer are guaranteed to provide excitement when you are watching the beach patrols compete for supremacy among the Life Guard communities in South Jersey. This Friday night there are two big races: The 39th Annual Kerr Memorials in Avalon are named for David Kerr, a lifeguard in Avalon and rowing Champion, who lost his life to cancer, and the Kerr Memorials are held each year to remember him. The Atlantic City Classic competition is at the Albany Avenue Beach; The Atlantic City Classic dates back to 1919. Each race gets us closer to the ultimate goal of winning the South Jersey Lifeguard Championship on Friday night August 11th in Margate. Next week at the Dutch-Hoffman Memorial Lifeguard race in Wildwood, will be the first time that all the Beach Patrols in South Jersey will get together to face off and The Locker Room with Billy Schweim along with 973 ESPN will be broadcasting Live from Wildwood starting at 6 pm.

The Phillies head to Cleveland this weekend to face the Guardians after losing two out of three to the Brewers in Philadelphia. The Phillies currently hold the third wild card place in the National League Playoff Race. We can only hope the Phillies bats come back to life in Cleveland after only collecting two hits in Thursday's afternoon game loss.

Tune into The Locker Room with Billy Schweim on Saturday for your chance to win Phillies tickets to this Monday's game against the American League East leading Baltimore Orioles. Tune in at 10am to learn about how you can win tickets and a parking pass to the game.

On Saturday’s show, Josh Hennig will do double duty producing and co-hosting with me as we talk Phillies baseball, Sixers basketball, and Eagles Football as training camp opens up on Tuesday. In Hour Two, former Lieutenant and current President of the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association Jack Brooks will join me for the Beach Patrol Report, brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the OCBP Lifeguard Alumni Association. We will have all the results and interviews with the winners from Friday nights' races.

On Sunday’s show, Mike Carlin joins me and Producer Danny Ryan in the studio as we recap the week in Philly sports. Every Sunday during the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by the John R. Elliott Hero Campaign for Designated Drivers. Tommy gives us his insight on the Phillies week and previews Sunday’s game. In Hour Two, we will hear from Reed Carlin, Mike's son, who is in Cleveland attending the Phillies vs Guardians series on Sunday's show.

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, heard every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey.
