The Philadelphia Flyers galvanized the tri-state area back in the 1970s with their magical run to win the Stanley Cup.  This Sunday marks the 50th year to the day that the Broad Street Bullies won their first Stanley Cup.

Back then, Philadelphia was known as the city of Losers.  That all changed on May 19th 1974.  Led by their Goaltender Bernie Parent, Team Captain Bobby Clarke, and “The Hammer” Dave Schultz, the Flyers captivated Philly sports fans with their unique style of play.

I was 12 years old when the Flyers won the Cup and I will never forget it!!  We will relive the 1973/74 season by playing clips from God Bless the Flyers.  We will go down memory lane with Hall of Fame goaltender Bernie Parent and “The Hammer” Dave Schultz on Sunday’s show!

The Phillies continued their winning ways by winning three out of four games versus the New York Mets this week.  Next up, the Phillies welcome the Washington Nationals to Philadelphia for a three-game weekend series. Ranger Suarez improved his record to 8-0 with and lowered his ERA to 1.37 this week.  Zack Wheeler gets the ball for the Phillies Friday night and looks to rebound from his rough last outing.

RanThe 2024 Preakness is set for Saturday at Pimlico and we will hear from the fastlanehandicapper.com Jeffrey Nash on the race and get you ready for the busy sports weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.

On Saturday’s show,  "Mr. Everything" Josh Hennig joins me and Mike Carlin in the studio.  We will recap the Phillies' Friday night action plus look at the Eagles 2024 schedule came out earlier this week.  Jeffrey Nash from fastlanehandicapper.com will join us to handicap the 2024 Preakness from Pimlico.  In Hour Two, The Sports Book Consigliere Dave Sharapan checks in from Las Vegas with his look at the NBA and NHL playoffs.

On Sunday’s show, my Locker Room Youth Movement is back in studio: Producer Danny Ryan and "The Intern” Andrew Leeds join me for a very special show.  Every Sunday throughout the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s Market in Ocean City.

Tommy reviews the Phillies recent winning and if they are the best team in Baseball.  In Hour Two, we will honor the 50th anniversary of the Philadelphia Flyers winning their first Stanley Cup on May 19th 1974.  We will talk with Hall of Fame Flyers Goalie Bernie Parent and the Enforcer of the Broad Street Bullies Dave “The Hammer” Schultz about their magical run in 1974.  You do not want to miss these two Flyers Legends reminiscing on the events that happened 50 years ago to the day!!

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, heard every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey.
