The Philadelphia Eagles entered the NFL offseason with twenty Free agents and General Manager Howie Rosemen has been extremely busy in the first week of free agency. Retaining their core leadership, the Eagles made sure they had Jason Kelce and Brandon Graham back before they gave Eagles' fans the pleasant surprise of resigning Fletcher Cox. After some drama over the last seven days, Philadelphia finally got a new deal done with Darius Slay and one of the headlines of NFL Free Agency was the Birds' resigning James Bradberry. Roseman has defied conventional wisdom that the defensive side of the ball would be affected the most and so far things have fallen into place for Philadelphia with new additions like Cornerback Greedy Williams.
This weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, we will evaluate the Eagles moves so far and discuss what they need to do next. The NCAA basketball tournament is off to a great start with two big upsets: Number 13 seed Furman and Number 15 seed Princeton both continue to dance after taking out former National Champions Virginia and Arizona. The Phillies continue to get closer to opening day with good perfomances recently from both Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler pitching well while the World Baseball Championship is set for Tuesday March 21st and then all MLB teams will be "back to normal" just in time for the regular season to start.
On Saturday’s show, Josh Hennig joins me in studio and "The Intern" Andrew Leeds will also mix it up with me in the studio. We will look at how Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman has fared during the first official week of NFL Free Agency. The Sports Book Consigliere Dave Sharapan checks in from Las Vegas in the first hour (if he can gather the strength to grace us with his presence) after a busy first two days of March Madness. "The Book" is a busy man this time of year and we look forward to getting his impressions of the NCAA Tournament so far. In Hour Two, we will hear from Legendary Hall of Fame Sports Columnist who has covered 45 NCAA Final Fours and 35 National Championships, Dick Weiss. Dick has seen it all and we will get his thoughts on this year's tournament. Plus the Phillies are 13 days away from opening day so we’ll talk some Phillies baseball.
On Sunday’s show will be The Locker Rooms youth movement: Producer Danny Ryan and "The Intern" Andrew Leeds will gang up on the old man. We will recap the Sixers current road trip and we will critique the Eagles additions and subtractions in NFL Free Agency. In Hour Two we will talk with the Head Coach of the Pitman High School Boys Basketball team Ron Myers. Myers was an All-South Jersey selection in both his Junior & Senior years playing at Pitman and All-State honors his senior year. He knows a thing or two about basketball and we’ll get his thoughts on the NCAA tournament and the Sixers this season.
