The 150th annual Kentucky Derby is set for Saturday May 4th with the Post time scheduled for 6:57 PM.  20 horses are set to run for the Roses in this majestic race which is the first race of the triple crown. This Saturday morning The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will be broadcasting Live from the Down & Derby Wine Festival at the Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, Camden County.  Jeffrey Nash from fastlanehandicapper.com will be joining us to handicap the Big Race!

The Philadelphia 76ers season came to an abrupt end Thursday night as they lost to the New York Knicks in Game Six of the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.  Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey played hard but it wasn’t enough even with the sudden scoring boost from Buddy Hield.  We will discuss what’s next for the Sixers this offseason along with predicting who will stay and who will not be in a Sixers uniform next season.

The Phillies are off to their best start since 2011 and their starting pitching is the reason why.  While the Phillies are off to a hot start they still trail the Atlanta Braves by a half game in the National League East standings. The Phillies Starting Rotation leads all of MLB with a 2.22 ERA.  Also, Alec Bohm is off to a torrid pace and leads the team with a .362 Batting Average and his 30 RBI is the second most in the National League.

The Phils return home after going 7-3 on their road trip and welcome the San Francisco Giants to town for a four-game series on Friday night.  We will cover it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.

On Saturday’s Show, Mike Carlin and Nick Earnshaw join me on location at this year’s Down and Derby Festival at the Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, Camden County.  Jeffrey Nash from Fastlanehandicapper.com will check in with us to talk about the 150th Run for the Roses, The Kentucky Derby.  In Hour Two, The Sports Book Consigliere Dave Sharapan will join us from Las Vegas with his perspective on what horse Vegas likes to win the first leg of the Triple Crown.  Plus, we will recap the Phillies' incredible month of April and what’s next for the Sixers.

On Sunday’s Show, my Locker Room Youth Movement returns to the studio: Producer Nick Earnshaw and "The Intern” Andrew Leeds join me to recap the busy Sports Weekend.  Every Sunday during the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s Market in Ocean City.  In Hour Two, we talk about boxing's return to Tropicana Atlantic City on May 11th: Larry Goldburg from Boxing Insider promotions and Undefeated Middleweight from Atlantic City Justin Figueroa join us in the studio to talk about next weekend's boxing card.  Plus we will be giving away tickets to the big event at Tropicana Atlantic City!

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, heard every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey.
